Thomas Haygarth

Tom is a Trainee Patent Attorney within the Chemistry & Life Sciences group at GJE and works on drafting and prosecuting patents across a wide variety of subject areas in the field of biotechnology. Outside of work, Tom often leaves the city for some fresh air, whether that be through cycling or hiking.  He also enjoys listening to live music, reading, and chess.

Tom’s areas of specialism are mainly in the health and medical field of biotechnology.  He has experience working in areas involving:

• Vaccines and immunology
• Nucleic acid technologies
• Antibodies
• Diagnostics

Tom graduated from the University of Oxford with a First Class Master’s degree in Biochemistry.  His final year project worked on better understanding cell-to-cell heterogeneity in bacterial stress responses using single-molecule imaging and microfluidic techniques. He joined GJE in 2023.
