Kate advises clients in relation to all patent matters in subject areas across the mechanical, electrical, computer technology, and medical devices fields.

Her regular work includes drafting and prosecuting European and UK patent applications, handling oppositions to granted European patents for both patent proprietors and opponents, and representing clients before the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office. Kate is also regularly involved in due diligence, IP audits, providing opinions on infringement and validity, and freedom-to-operate matters.

Kate works with a broad range of clients including large multinational companies, SMEs, start-ups, as well as private inventors in the UK, Europe, and further afield.

Kate’s experience allows her to support clients across a wide range of IP matters and help develop their IP portfolios in alignment with commercial objectives.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys cycling, bouldering, and reading.

Kate joined GJE in 2017 as a trainee and qualified as both a European and UK Patent Attorney in 2019. Prior to GJE, Kate trained for two years at another London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. Kate has also been seconded for a year to work in-house as a patent consultant at a multinational defence technology company.
