GJE is delighted to announce that Ash Earl and Philippa Makepeace have been promoted to senior associate. Both are patent attorneys in the firm’s Chemistry & Life Sciences team.

Ash Earl joined GJE in 2015, qualifying as a European Patent Attorney in 2019 and a UK Patent Attorney in 2020, and works with clients in the pharmaceutical and chemistry sectors. He specialises in small molecule pharmaceuticals and his areas of expertise include new chemical entities, medical uses, polymorphs, dosage regimen, salt forms and deuterated compounds. In addition to patent drafting and global prosecution, Ash has successfully represented clients in high-stakes opposition and appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office. Ash is also a qualified UPC representative.

Philippa Makepeace began training as a patent attorney in 2014 before joining GJE in 2017, and qualifying as a European and UK Patent Attorney in 2018 and 2020 respectively. She specialises in the field of chemical innovation, supporting clients in sectors including printing solutions, consumer goods and healthcare. Her clients range from start-ups and SMEs to large multinational companies.
