Rebecca has extensive experience handling a broad range of patent matters. She works across a variety of different technical areas, but has particular expertise within the chemical, pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and medical device fields.
Rebecca is a trusted advisor for companies ranging from SMEs, to large multinationals. Whether it’s increasing their attractiveness to investors, or gaining leverage over their competitors, Rebecca enjoys helping her clients make use of the patent process to support their commercial goals. She regularly acts for large corporates, including a multinational medical device company an internationally recognised supplier of consumer goods. In addition, Rebecca regularly advises small companies, supporting their growth by providing guidance on patent strategy, and protecting their inventions in the UK and abroad.
Rebecca has a keen interest in oppositions and appeals, and has an impressive track record with attacking and defending patents at the European Patent Office on behalf of her clients. This experience in contentious matters has helped Rebecca gain full appreciation of how best to “waterproof” her client’s cases from an early stage. Rebecca has significant experience in drafting new applications, handling European and UK prosecution, and coordinating global patent portfolios. In doing so, Rebecca enjoys coordinating with inventors and in-house legal departments alike. Rebecca is also experienced in opinion work, including advising on Freedom-to-Operate and infringement matters.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys diving, cooking, and occasionally brushing the dust off her violin. An amateur but enthusiastic surfer, Rebecca can usually be found either near the sea, or planning her next coastal adventure.
